A large plan for a new state-of-the-art pupil referral unit in Colchester Essex, one of the first of its kind in the county, have been approved.

Essex County Council has received planning permission to create the new pupil referral unit. To Be called Walnut Tree School, on land off Walnut Tree Way in Shrub End.

Designed for 80 pupils who are unable to attend mainstream schoolor are waiting for a place at a special education needs facility. This Pupil referral unit will be state of the art.

It will be a two-storey education block set to be built on site. Plus a sports hall along with outside games area for children.

The school will offer 30 places for primary pupils, 20 places for pupils moving from primary to secondary education and 30 places for secondary age pupils who cannot attend school due to illness or anxiety.
